Had a Tuesday last month that changed my mind about acrylics

I used to be totally against using acrylics on my clients. But one Tuesday last month, three different women came in asking for full sets for their vacation trips. I gave in and did all three, and I have to admit the results looked better than I expected. The way the nails held up through beach weather and swimming surprised me. Has anyone else had a client experience that made you change your stance on a technique?

I was at a diner in Akron last month and this old guy started talking about the Van Allen belts. I always rolled my eyes at that stuff but he showed me a NASA document from 1962 saying radiation exposure would be fatal. Now I still think we landed on the moon obviously, but the way NASA hand-waves that part has always seemed off to me. Has anyone actually read the official explanation for how they got through those belts without getting fried?

My manager at the auto parts store drilled this into me for 2 years. He said just apologize and give them what they want, even if they're wrong. Last month a guy argued our oil filters didn't fit his 2018 Civic because the threads looked different. I checked the part number 3 times, it was correct. Manager made me refund him anyway and let him keep the filter. Two days later the guy came back with a destroyed engine because he cross-threaded it. My manager had to explain to corporate why we gave away a free filter that caused a $2,800 repair. Has anyone else had a boss stick to bad advice even after it blew up?

Tbh, my aunt's pickle method needs a whole month to sit, but I'm thinking of cutting that down. Is the long wait key to the flavor, or can we skip it?
