Dublin hostels went from $30 to $55 a night in one year

I booked a 6-bed dorm at Jacobs Inn in Dublin in March 2023 for $30 a night. Same room, same hostel, March 2024 was $55. Post-Covid crowds and fewer hostels operating seem to be the cause. Anyone else noticing prices jumping this fast in other European cities?

Blame the weak dollar more than anything else though - $30 USD was about 28 euros back then, and $55 USD is about 51 euros now, so the actual euro price only went up like 8 euros.

Doesn't the fact that the dollar price jumped from 30 to 55 while the euro price only shifted 8 reflect that the actual value of the product got way cheaper in Europe compared to here? So Europeans got a bargain relative to us, and it kinda feels like we're the ones getting soaked now.
