The hostel I booked for $12 a night in Bangkok had free pad thai every evening but I ended up spending double on street food anyway.
After three days of eating their free noodles, my stomach couldn't handle the oil anymore so I blew my budget on a 60 baht chicken rice stand across the street, has anyone else had a 'free' meal backfire like that?

Heard some food trucks do that just to get people to try their stuff.
