My cousin's kid asked me what 'channel surfing' meant and I felt ancient

Does it feel like these moments are happening faster now? I swear we went from explaining what a floppy disk was to explaining what a TV remote was in no time flat. It makes me wonder what the next big shift will be that leaves us all feeling out of the loop.

Heard a customer in my shop say they'd never buy roses again

Ever tried a quick demo on how to trim the stems and change the water?

I think the hate for filler episodes is missing the point

You're right about filler giving the crew time to just be themselves. I see this a lot with TV shows too, where the best episodes are often the quiet ones where the characters just talk. It's like needing a calm day between big life events to remember who you are. The Kakashi mask episode in Naruto is a perfect example of filler that's just pure, simple fun.

My old boss told me to never trust a hydraulic valve block from a certain rebuild shop in Chicago

Man, that's rough. So when your boss warned you, was it just about that one shop, or did he have a bigger rule about rebuilt parts in general? I mean, I've heard some shops are great and others are terrible, but it makes you wonder how you're supposed to tell the difference before you get burned.

My mentor in Dallas said to never trust a customer's 'quick backup' before a wipe

Right? It's like when you buy a blue car and suddenly you see blue cars everywhere. The weird stuff was always there, you just started paying attention.
