Just realized I spent 3 hours trying to save $4 on my phone bill

Ngl I saw my cell bill was $68 a month and figured I could trim it down, so I called the carrier and got bounced between 4 different reps in one evening. The hold music alone probably ate 90 minutes. Turns out the only plan that actually saved me money was $64 a month, so I got $4 off for all that hassle. Has anyone actually found a carrier switch that was worth the phone calls?

I did the same thing with my internet last year and it went about as well. Saw I was paying $75 and thought I could get it down to like $50 if I just asked the right way. Two hours on the phone later and the best they offered was $70, which is basically nothing. The kicker is they bumped it up by $10 two months later anyway without telling me. My wife still brings it up every time I say I'm gonna call and haggle for something. So no, I have not found a switch that was worth the calls. Feels like the game is rigged so you waste a whole night for pocket change.
