Sounds about right for anything the city calls "free."
Those bins always come with hidden fees down the line. They have to pay for pickup trucks, the people to run them, and a place to process all that waste. That cost gets folded into our taxes or a yearly fee they never mention up front. So we end up paying for it anyway, just not at the curb. Makes you wonder if it's even worth the hassle, right?
City waste programs are funded through property taxes, so it's not a separate hidden charge. The costs are built into what we already pay. It's just part of the service package.
