A friend told me my migration method was a waste and she was right

I used to migrate entire collections over each month - like all my tasks from October into November. My friend Sarah saw my journal and said 'you're just copying stuff you'll never look at again.' She was blunt about it. So now I only migrate things I actually need to do within the next week or two. Has anyone else had someone call out a habit like that and change it?

Hugo_cooper is right about cutting clutter but I gotta say people really overthink this stuff. It's just moving tasks around on paper, not some life or death decision. Sarah's not wrong about copying stuff you never touch again but like who cares? If it takes five minutes and makes you feel organized then do it. I migrate half my stuff and ignore the other half anyway. At the end of the day you're still gonna procrastinate on the same three things regardless of how you organize them. So yeah it helps a little but let's not pretend this is some massive breakthrough.

My buddy Tom used to carry around this massive binder with every single grocery list he'd made for like two years. His girlfriend finally sat him down and showed him that half the pages were just "milk, eggs, bread" repeated forty times. He ended up doing what @hugo_cooper mentioned - just trashed all the old stuff and kept a single notecard in his wallet that he replaces each week. It's kind of funny how someone pointing out the obvious can make you rethink stuff you never questioned.

Dead right, cutting the clutter makes you actually do the stuff that matters lol.
