PSA: my 15 minute monthly setup was taking me 2 hours until I moved my collections to the back
I kept timing myself doing my March setup and it was eating 2 hours every single time because I was rebuilding my daily logs and trackers from scratch instead of just flipping to the next blank page. Turns out I was fighting my own notebook by putting collections right in the middle of where my dailies live, so I moved everything to the last 20 pages and my setup dropped to 15 minutes flat. Does anyone else organize collections at the back, or am I the last person on earth to figure this out?
This is the same thing that happens with people who keep their important papers in the middle of a filing cabinet instead of a dedicated spot. You end up digging through stuff you do not need every time you want the one thing you do need. I learned this the hard way with my garage, where I used to shove tools anywhere there was space until I finally gave everything a fixed home. The rule is simple, the stuff you touch every day goes where your hand already goes, and the stuff you touch once a month goes somewhere out of the way. Moving collections to the back pages makes total sense because your dailies are the thing you open to every single morning. You are not the last person on earth, most folks just never stop to ask why their setup takes so long.
