The ER nurse who saw my habit tracker and said 'that's not a mood log'
I was sitting in the waiting room at Mercy General in Cincinnati after my kid took a tumble off the trampoline, and I pulled out my journal to add a symptom to my mood tracker. The nurse glanced over, pointed at my 5 week streak of blacked out squares, and asked if I was actually noting how I felt or just coloring in boxes to keep the streak alive. Now I write one real sentence per day instead of a grid, and has anyone else had their tracker turn into a chore you were just feeding?
I used to roll my eyes at people who said tracking could turn into a job, since I figured a streak was proof I was doing the work. Then I hit 60 days on mine and could not tell you one thing I actually noticed about myself in all that time. Now I do the same thing you do, one honest line a day, and it tells me way more than a wall of filled squares ever did.
