Heard my kid's teacher groan at a joke I told at parent-teacher night

Teacher's got no sense of humor. That fly one's a classic.

Just tried browning my butter for the first time on a weeknight

Wait, is browning butter really that impressive though? I mean sure it tastes good but Ive been doing it for years and its just melted butter that you let sit a little longer. The nutty flavor is nice but honestly I think people overhype it. I tried it with chicken once and the butter burned before the chicken was fully cooked through because it was too high heat. Plus all that foam and brown bits just got scraped off my pan and tossed out anyway. So you get a slightly different butter taste for a few minutes of extra effort and risk burning your dinner if youre not watching it like a hawk. Not saying it doesnt have its moments but using browned butter as a flex on a tuesday night feels like weve given up on actual cooking techniques.

Bailed on episode 7 of a show because of a Reddit comment about pacing

Yeah I've done that exact thing with a few shows. The Witcher season 2 was dragging for me so I looked up when it gets good and skipped to episode 4. Missed some lore stuff but honestly the payoff was way better than suffering through episodes I wasn't enjoying. Just make sure you read a quick recap of what you skipped so you're not lost on character stuff.

Spent 4 hours chasing a 0.002 inch offset on a Haas VF-2

Oh man, I gotta push back on that a little... If the chip was under the clamp and it moved the part, then adjusting the work offset is actually the right call in a weird way. You're telling the machine the part is somewhere it isn't, so zeroing off the new position with the offset would technically save the part if you caught it fast enough. Not saying it's the smartest approach, but sometimes you chase numbers because your gut says "it's gotta be perfect where it was" instead of just trusting what the probe or indicator says right now. Chip under clamp or not, the machine's only gonna cut where you tell it.

Lost $200 on a fake parking pass near Wrigley last summer

The "sell it to 20 people" part gets me every time. That's just insane, how do they even sleep at night?
