Switched from an LLC to a sole prop for my lawn care side gig after a $400 scare
I set up an LLC last year because everyone online said I would get sued without one. Then my buddy who does taxes in Columbus sat me down and showed me the paperwork fees plus the $800 franchise tax in California, which ate up most of what I made mowing 15 lawns a month. What actually changed my mind was when my insurance agent explained my general liability policy already covers me for $1 million, so the LLC was mostly extra cost and extra filing. I dissolved it in March and went back to a sole prop with a separate bank account, which honestly took one afternoon. Anyone else run a small side business and decide the LLC just was not worth it at your income level?
