The $40 LLC advice my barber gave me at a shop on 5th Street
I was sitting in the chair at a barber shop on 5th Street last Tuesday and overheard two guys next to me arguing about whether they needed an LLC before they started selling BBQ sauce. The older guy said "son, you can form one online in an afternoon but the operating agreement is where people get burned" and I sat there nodding while my fade got finished. Now I'm wondering how many of you actually wrote up a real operating agreement versus just filing the form and calling it a day?
I used to figure the LLC filing was the whole thing and the rest was just paperwork nobody reads. Getting an actual operating agreement written up changed my mind, mostly because it forced my business partner and me to talk through money stuff we'd been dodging.
