Hot take: the walk-in quit at 4 a.m. on a Saturday and I almost lost a whole hog
The compressor on my old True unit died overnight at the shop on Franklin Ave, and I walked in Saturday morning to 41 degrees and rising with a whole hog hanging in there. I iced down what I could, crammed $180 of ice into the reach-in in my truck, and hauled the hog to my buddy Ray's place across town before it turned. We saved it, but the repair guy quoted me $1,400 for a new compressor and I am still deciding if it is worth fixing or if I just buy a newer box. Anyone here been through a walk-in failure mid-weekend, and did you go repair or replace?
