I was dead set against pocket screws on face frames until a job in Dayton changed my mind
For years I turned my nose up at pocket screws on face frames and insisted on dowels or mortise and tenon every single time. Then I took a kitchen job in Dayton with 22 cabinet boxes and a deadline that was already too tight, so I gave the Kreg jig a shot just to save a couple days. The frames came out square and tight, and when I went back a year later to add a pantry, nothing had shifted or opened up at the joints. I still use real joinery on anything that shows, but for painted face frames I've quietly switched over. Anyone else got a line where you held out way longer than you should have?

Man, a year later with nothing moving is a good sign, but pocket screws alone don't hold a frame square. It's the glue doing the real work there, the screws just clamp it while it sets. Skip the glue and those joints will creep on you eventually.
