Buddy at the LAN party talked me out of velcro strips for good

My friend Chris showed up with a bunch of zip tie mounts and a heat gun last weekend and spent 20 minutes cleaning up my desk corner while I grabbed drinks. He said velcro strips just collect dust bunnies and lose grip after six months, which mine totally did. Anyone else switch to permanent mounts and regret it later when you had to move things around?

@fox.jesse those adhesive cable clips are exactly what I ended up doing. I got a pack of the 3M ones with the sticky back and ran all my monitor and keyboard cables through them. They hold solid for months but when I swapped my GPU last week I just popped the cables out and moved them over no problem. Velcro always ended up dangling off stuff for me too, those clips are way cleaner for a setup you actually touch.

Did you ever figure out a good middle ground? I started using adhesive cable clips that you can pop the wire in and out of, and they hold way better than velcro but you can still yank the cables out if you need to move a monitor or something. Heat gun stuff is great for a permanent setup but man, when you have to swap out a dead power supply three months later you really regret melting everything down. I keep a few of those sticky clips on my desk for stuff I know I'll change around.
