Just learned why my cable box looks like a rat's nest and it's not the cables at all
I was at my buddy's place in Sacramento last weekend helping him move a TV stand and he pointed at the back of his setup and said the mess was never the wires, it was the wrong length of wires. He had a 10 foot HDMI coiled up behind his console doing nothing but tangling into everything else, and I looked at mine and counted four cables that were all way too long for the gap between my desk and the wall. He swaps to shorter ones for the stuff that sits close and saves the long ones for the runs that actually need it, and his whole pile shrank by half after that. I spent maybe $20 on a few 3 foot cables and now there's actual space back there instead of a knot. Been doing this for years and never once questioned the length, just kept buying velcro ties like that would solve it. Did you all figure out the cable length thing early or am I late to this party?
