My dad's old extension cord setup still works better than my fancy power strip

He used a single heavy duty 12 gauge cord with a splitter at the end. No surge protector, no individual switches, just a tangle of plugs that somehow never overheated. I keep buying those slim power strips with rotating heads and they all fail after a year. Anyone else got old hardware that just refuses to die?

Man, I still use an old power strip from the 90s that's beat to hell but works perfect. My new ones all die after a year too, so I just keep the old one going.

It's like that with so many things now, they just don't make em to last like they used to. Planned obsolescence is real, everything's designed to fail so you gotta buy a new one.
