Vent: my brother in law asked why I even bother hiding the cables behind my TV, and now I can't quit thinking about it
We were sitting on his couch in Cincinnati over the weekend watching the Bengals game and I made some joke about the black spaghetti hanging under his TV and he just shrugged and said nobody looks back there but him, so why should he care. I laughed it off, but driving home I started adding up stuff. I've got a $24 cable sleeve, two velcro straps, a plastic raceway stuck to the wall, and about two hours into all of it, and for what? The wires still look bad when I pull the TV out to clean and honestly nobody has ever walked into my living room and checked behind the set. He made a point that his setup is ugly but his life is easier, and I'm sitting here with a neat wall and a little voice in my head that checks it anyway. The part that gets me is he still unplugs the right cord without looking, so all my work didn't even make his kind of setup faster. Do you all tidy the wires because it really bothers you, or is it just some rule we all follow without asking?
