Warning: Those velcro cable wraps are actually making things worse

I kept seeing everyone swear by those little velcro straps for bundling cables. So I bought a 50 pack from Amazon for 8 bucks. But after 3 months, I noticed the velcro loses grip when you wrap it tight around thicker power bricks. Now my TV stand looks like a mess again because the straps keep slipping off. Has anyone else had this problem or found a better way to keep thick cords together?

Yeah the grip on those cheap velcro straps goes to crap fast, especially with thick power bricks. I switched to using these silicone cable ties instead, they're stretchy and hold way better on fat cables. Also tried cutting up an old bike inner tube into strips, works great and costs nothing. Just wrap it around a couple times and it stays put.

Oh man that inner tube trick is genius @dylanward, I never thought of that! But here's something nobody talks about - those velcro straps actually wear out faster because of the little fibers that stick to them from your pockets or bags. I had a bunch of straps that got all fuzzy and stopped gripping after a month. The real hack I found is using those thin reusable zip ties from the hardware store, the ones that come in like a 50 pack. They're not as pretty but you can tighten them down exactly as much as you need and they never slip. Plus they're flat so they don't add bulk to your cables. Just snip the tail off short and you're golden.
