Unpopular opinion: that coax staple gun trick from a 1987 training tape saved my Monday
Last Tuesday I was on a job in Mesa, Arizona, running RG6 through a 1940s bungalow with plaster walls and no attic access. The old homeowner watched me fight a staple gun for 20 minutes and then pulls out this beat up VHS he kept from his own installer days. The tape said to hold the gun at a 30 degree angle and squeeze slow, so the staple wraps the cable instead of crushing it. I tried it and got 14 drops done in under 2 hours with zero pinched lines on my tester. My usual method was crushing one out of every 10 staples, so that alone was a win. Now I want to know, does anyone else angle their staples or is it flat and squeeze for you? And has anyone seen the staple crush a signal enough to fail a cert test later? I feel like I got lucky on this one.
