My uncle told me to stop using a scale for bread and it was a disaster

Feel like my family has a PhD in being wrong with confidence... my uncle once tried to "fix" my laptop screen by whacking it. @casey_barnes, at least your floor dent has a fun story.

Hit 500 appointments doing only blunt cuts and I'm not changing

Right? My last stylist acted like I was crazy for wanting a simple bob. That Springfield drive says it all.

Can we talk about how we all used to handle extractions

But you're losing all the heat benefit. The steam opens things up, that's the whole point. Waiting ten minutes just lets everything tighten back down before you even start. I've tried it both ways and the immediate extraction is way more effective for clearing deep congestion. That next day clarity you see is just from less trauma, not better results. Sometimes old school methods are old school for a reason.

Rant: I see so many folks in my neighborhood skip the wall studs when hanging heavy shelves.

Yeah, that "drywall just crumbled" line got me. I had the same rude awakening with a floating shelf. Loaded it up with books, felt real proud. Next morning, it was on the floor with a wall crater. @margaretk89 is right, you just can't argue with physics. My stud finder is my best friend now, even if it beeps at me for no reason half the time. I'll take a weird shelf spot over cleaning up drywall dust any day.
