TIL I own 23 charging cables and only 4 of them actually work

I finally dug through the box of tangled cords behind my TV stand in my apartment in Sacramento yesterday, and I counted 23 charging cables total. Only 4 of them still charge anything. The rest are either frayed, too short to reach an outlet, or belong to phones I haven't owned since 2016. The funny part is I kept buying new ones because I thought I lost the old ones, but they were just buried under the couch and behind the nightstand the whole time. I zip tied the 4 good ones to my desk leg and tossed the dead ones in a bag for the electronics recycling bin at Best Buy. My cat is not happy that his favorite pile of warm noodles is gone.
