Hit 50 shutter repairs this week. Never thought I'd get here.

Started doing shutter fixes as a side thing back in March. Just hit my 50th repair yesterday. It was a beat-up Nikon FM2 from a guy in Portland. The thing that surprised me is how many of them just needed a clean and lube, not a full rebuild. Any of you keep a running count of your jobs?

Counted every single one since I started last year. Hit 43 so far and I swear half were just dried up grease on the focus helicoid. That FM2 is a classic though, bet it felt good to get that one sorted. Most folks just let their cameras sit too long without exercising them.

43 in a year? That's like almost one a week. I dunno, maybe I'm just lazy but I'd probably just use the thing until it broke instead of hunting down every little squeak. How do you even know when it's "fixed" vs just not bothering you anymore?
