Hit 52 cameras in my parts bin and that felt like a lot until I counted the lenses
I did a full inventory of the shop shelves on a slow Tuesday and counted 52 bodies sitting around waiting on parts or a buyer. That number caught me off guard because it felt like a small pile until it was written down, and then I found another 30 lenses behind it. Do you all keep a hard count on your backlog or just eyeball it and hope for the best?
A few years back I helped a guy clear out his dad's garage after he passed, and we found coffee cans full of loose screws everywhere. He kept saying it was just a couple cans until we lined them all up on the driveway and it took two trips with a truck to haul off. Same thing with your parts pile, the number only gets real when you see it all at once. My own shelf is mostly eyball territory and I have paid for it more than once by buying a part I already had three of. Writing it down sounds boring but it beats standing in the shop wondering if that box in the corner is empty. At least your 52 bodies are honest about where they stand.
