The week my inflatable sleeping pad failed on day one
I used to think any old sleeping pad would do for camping. Then I took a Klymit Static V out to Lost Maples State Park and woke up at 2 AM flat on my back on the gravel. A tiny leak near the valve had me airing it up every hour until sunrise. Has anyone else had a pad fail on them right out of the box or did I just get a dud?

Did you try apologizing to it or offering a stern talking to? Sometimes a good scolding fixes those temperamental valve jobs.

Valve jobs don't have emotions, so a stern talking to is about as useful as yelling at a toaster. People say it's a temperamental valve job but it's really just a hunk of metal with moving parts. If it needs fixing, fix it. If it's past fixing, replace it. No amount of apologizing is gonna change that. Honestly, Alice, sounds like you're overthinking this. It's a valve, not a relationship.
