Went with a 2-person tent over a 4-person for Yellowstone, no regrets
I was packing for a 5 day trip to Yellowstone last fall and kept going back and forth between my old 4-person and a new 2-person ultralight I got on sale for $180. The 4-person is roomier but it weighs like 9 lbs and takes up half my trunk. The 2-person is 3 lbs and sets up in under 5 minutes. I figured since it was just me and my dog, why drag the extra bulk? First night got hit with some wind and rain and the smaller tent held up way better than I expected, plus I could pitch it on a smaller flat spot near the creek. Only downside is my gear bag has to sleep by my feet, but honestly that's fine. Anyone else downsized their tent for a trip and ended up liking it more?
