My brother in law in Reno says hot glue is a crutch for cardboard builders, I think he has it backwards
He builds these huge castle forts for his kids using nothing but tabs and slots, and he keeps telling me hot glue makes weak joints that snap under weight. But I built a storage bench out of double wall boxes from a fridge we bought in March, and those glue seams have held 180 pounds without any give. His tab and slot stuff looks cleaner, sure, but it takes him 4 hours per build while mine was done in 45 minutes. Anyone else find that glue holds up better than people give it credit for?
Does your brother in law actually test his joints or just assume glue is bad because it looks messy? I've had cardboard shelves with hot glue hold way more than I expected too, and if it works it works. Seems like he's just mad your builds take a fraction of the time.
