Pro tip: cutting slits not holes for box joints
I spent 2 hours trying to cut perfect round holes for joining my castle walls last week. Kept getting the measurements wrong and the cardboard tore. Finally tried just cutting straight slits that interlock. You just measure the thickness of your box and cut slits that wide. Held way better than any glue or tape I tried and took 10 minutes total. Anyone else use this method or have another trick for box joints?

Wait, you cut them straight or at an angle for a tighter fit?

An angle?!" I never even thought of that... I just did straight cuts like a fool. Now I gotta try it angled.

that's what my buddy @michael693 said when he tried it too! my friend luke actually did a whole castle build with just slits and no glue, but he messed up on the first try cause he cut the slits too wide and everything just flopped over. he had to redo the whole thing and measure the cardboard thickness like three times before it clicked. now he swears by the slit method and even cuts them at a slight angle so they lock in tighter, which i thought was genius. nina_hall, i think angling them helps if your cuts wiggle loose, but straight slits work fine if you get the width spot on.
