That Guy Who Called My Cardboard Castle 'Trash' Changed My Whole Approach
Last month at the community swap meet in Portland, this older dude watched me haul a full knight's helmet I'd built from a fridge box. He laughed and said, 'You know that's just trash with extra steps, right?' I was about to get mad, but then he showed me his own little cardboard side table with a phone slot and drink holder. He wasn't being mean, he was pointing out that my big fancy stuff was cool but not useful. So now I make every project solve one real problem, like a cat fort with a built-in litter box door or a laptop stand from a diaper box. Has anyone else had a critic turn out to be a better teacher than all the compliments?
