A manager once told me my emails sounded angry, took me a month to fix that
Back in 2017 at a small marketing shop in Austin, my boss pulled me aside after I sent a reply to a client about a delayed campaign. She said, "You wrote this like you're annoyed they even asked." I was shocked. I thought I was being direct and clear. But she showed me how words like "unfortunately" and "as stated before" were coming off cold. I spent the next few weeks rewriting every email twice. Once for content, once for tone. Dropped the word "just" way too much too. Funny thing is, after a while it became automatic. Now I read my drafts out loud before sending. Has anyone else gotten feedback that felt totally off base at first but turned out to be spot on?
