Had a customer bring back a 2020 F-150 we painted last fall, and the clear was already peeling on the hood. We rushed the primer sanding to 180 grit to get it out the door. Now we're redoing the whole panel on our dime. Anyone else get burned by skipping a step to 320?

A chat with my uncle about his 'cheap' chili made me rethink my whole grocery list

We were at his place in Springfield last fall, and he served this amazing chili. I asked how much it cost, and he said, 'About twelve bucks for the whole pot, feeds six easy.' He showed me his trick: using a can of plain tomato sauce instead of the pricier 'chili starter' cans, and bulking it up with two cups of dry lentils he got in bulk. It tasted just as good, maybe better. So, is the real key to budget meals skipping the pre-made mixes and going back to basic ingredients, or do those starter kits save enough time to be worth the extra cash? What's your take?

That new engineer from corporate who told me to just run the program faster

He came down to the floor in Detroit last month, pointed at my Haas VF-2 running a 316 stainless part, and said 'The cycle time is 22 minutes, can't you just bump the feed to 150%' before walking off, leaving me to explain thermal growth and tool life to a guy who'd never loaded a vise.

I thought fridge detective posts were just for show until I saw my own mess

Honestly, I always figured people just staged those messy fridge pics for laughs. But last week, my partner took a shot of our actual fridge before we cleaned it out. Tbh, looking at the photo later, it was a total story. There were three half-empty jars of salsa, a block of cheddar from two months ago, and like six different hot sauces. My buddy saw it and guessed right away that we eat a lot of tacos and breakfast burritos, which is spot on. He even called out our lazy weeknight stir-fry habit from the sad looking bell peppers and soy sauce packet. Has anyone else had their eating habits perfectly called out just from a fridge pic?

Serious question, what's your current method for checking core vent seals before a pour?

I used to just eyeball them for years until a blowback incident at our Tacoma shop in 2022 forced us to adopt a mandatory pressure test with a simple gauge, which caught a faulty seal on a 400-pound mold just last Tuesday.
