Overheard my neighbor say 'birds just need to learn to avoid windows' and it got under my skin

Funny enough, I used to think the same way until a friend showed me some stats on how many birds actually die from window hits (like, billions a year). Seeing the numbers made me realize it's more than just a random thing here and there. @spencer_sanchez67, I get your point about personal experience, but this one's kinda hard to ignore once you look into it.

Was skeptical about single-origin vs blends until a free tasting at a local roaster changed my mind

Ah wait, I gotta jump in here real quick lol. That lemon acidity you're talking about is actually pretty common in a lot of Central American single-origins, especially if they're washed process. The silky body part is what gets me though - blends can have that too but only if they're roasted right. Try a Kenyan next time if you want to taste something wild, like tomato soup or blackcurrant notes, it'll mess with your head in a good way.

I always hated first-person stories until I tried one about a haunted laundromat

A haunted laundromat?" That's the weirdest hook I've ever heard.

Shoutout to the guy at REI who told me to ditch my inflatable pad for foam

Yo @jana_henderson52 you're totally right about that noise tradeoff! I actually read somewhere that foam pads last like 10x longer than inflatables cause there's no valve to fail. My buddy still uses his dad's old Z Lite from like 2012 and it's fine. I switched to the Therm-a-Rest RidgeRest after hearing Randy give his spiel and honestly the bulk is annoying but I'll take strapping it to my pack over waking up with my hipbone on frozen dirt any day. The crinkle sounds are basically lullaby material now lol.

PSA: The fancy grocery store near me marks down meat at 10 AM not 7 PM

Ground beef for $2.50 is a solid score" - you said "marked up chicken thighs" but probably meant marked down. Little typo but big difference in meaning there.
