Appreciation post: I hit 50 job applications and finally stopped chasing every listing I saw
Back in March I was blasting out 15 applications a week to anything with a salary range, and after hitting 50 with maybe two callbacks I sat down and looked at what I was actually sending. Turns out 40 of those were jobs I didn't even want, so I cut it down to 3 or 4 a week that I actually fit and started writing real cover notes, and my callback rate jumped to about 1 in 3. How do you all decide when a listing is worth the time versus just another number in the pile?

What makes you trust a salary range enough to even bother applying?
