Everyone says quit your job to chase the dream, so I did it and ran out of money in 5 months
I quit my $19/hr job at a car wash in Phoenix back in March to do pressure washing full time, because every post here says play it safe is for cowards. Thing is, I only had $2,400 saved and no real client list, so by August I was eating ramen and calling my old boss to beg for shifts back. Nobody on this forum warns you that going solo means you're also the sales guy, the bookkeeper, and the guy who fixes the truck when it dies. What actually saved me was keeping two steady Saturday accounts and working nights at the wash for 4 more months. If you're thinking about jumping, what's your actual number in savings before you'd feel ok doing it?
