Got told my resume was toast after a decade in the same role
Last week at a networking meetup in Denver, a hiring manager looked at my resume and said I looked like I hadn't grown since 2018. It stung because I thought staying loyal to one company showed commitment. She pointed out my job descriptions were just tasks, not results, and I had zero numbers. Has anyone else had to completely rewrite their resume after thinking it was fine?

Totally feel you on this one. It's rough when you've been putting in years of solid work and someone basically says it's all invisible. I had to redo my whole resume last year after a mentor pointed out I was writing about "responsible for" stuff instead of showing actual impact. Took me a few days to dig up old numbers from projects I'd forgotten about.

Actually I used to think quantifying things was just corporate nonsense. I was wrong. After I finally sat down and tracked the actual numbers on a project I'd been running for two years - saved the company 40 hours a week in manual data entry alone - my boss actually noticed. That one line on my resume got me three interviews last month. Makes me wonder what else I've been glossing over.
