TIL I was hurting my own job search by applying to postings the day they went up
I spent 5 months sending out about 40 applications and got 2 callbacks, and I was sure the market in my city was just dead. Then a recruiter I know through a friend let it slip that her team sorts by most recent first and anything older than 48 hours basically never gets read, so all my "get in early" speed was doing nothing for me. Does anyone know if reaching out to the hiring manager directly on day 2 or 3 actually helps, or am I just wasting more time?
