Power stretcher died 6 feet from the finish line, fix it or rent?

My power stretcher crapped out mid-pull on a 40 yard berber job in Salem last Tuesday and I ended up finishing the last 6 feet by hand. Now I'm stuck on whether to tear into the motor myself or just eat the $180 rental for the next job. Anyone here had luck rebuilding one of these or is it just throwing money at a lost cause?
