That Tuesday from hell with the wet carpet pad
Had a job last month in an old house in Maplewood where they wanted new carpet in the basement. Pulled up the old stuff and the pad was soaking wet from a slow leak behind the wall. Spent the whole day ripping out wet pad and hauling it up the stairs, then had to come back two days later after they fixed the pipe and dried it out. Customer was nice about it but that extra trip cost me a full afternoon I could have used on another job. Has anyone else run into hidden water damage that totally threw off your schedule?

Yeah, "threw off the schedule" is putting it mildly. Now I bring a moisture meter AND a shop vac on any basement carpet job, just in case.

Ugh yeah that happened to me a couple years ago in a house with a leaky toilet flange. Now I always bring a moisture meter on first visits to old basements lol saved me a ton of headache.
