Worst job I had last month. 12 hours for nothing.

Walked into a house in Aurora and the client had pulled up the old carpet herself. Left all the staples and tack strips. Took me 3 hours just to clean that mess. Then she wanted the pad upgraded but bought the wrong size. Had to drive 45 minutes to the supply house to swap it. The room had a weird L shape with a closet bump out. Took forever to seam it right. Got paid $400 but after gas and time I basically broke even. She even asked if I could move her couch back. Has anyone else had a client try to "help" and make things worse?

That client ripping up the carpet herself is a classic move lol. They think they're saving time but just create a bigger headache for the installer. Bet she was real proud of that mess of staples too.

Did you ever try having her sign a waiver about the staple mess before she started ripping stuff up?
