Warning: spent $25 on a cat meme template pack and they were all just blurry JPEGs from 2012

The watermark was still on half of them and my cat meme about my tabby staring at walls came out looking like a glitchy mess, anyone else run into fake template sellers on Etsy?

Got scammed on a "vintage" meme template pack once and the files were literally watermarked with some other seller's shop name. Tried to make a reaction meme about my cat knocking over plants and it came out looking like a broken TV screen from the 90s. The seller had like 5000 sales too so I figured they were legit. Now I just screenshot old memes from the web and crop them myself, way safer than trusting those template listings.

Harsh lesson right there, @barbarahill. Those high sales numbers usually just mean they got there by ripping people off first and staying ahead of the complaints. 5000 sales and still selling garbage templates tells you everything you need to know about the platform's quality control. I've been burned by overpriced meme packs myself, paid fifteen bucks for a "pro" reaction bundle and half the images were just screenshots of the same memes I could've found on Reddit for free. Now I do the same thing you do, screenshot and crop from the wild. Feels a little dirty but it beats paying for junk that doesn't even work right. At least when your cat plant meme comes out blurry now, it's your own fault, not some scammer's.
