Unpopular opinion: showing off your 0-60 time at a charger is just weird

Last month at an Electrify America station in Columbus, this guy in a Rivian rolled down his window and bragged about his 3 second 0-60 while we were both plugged in. I just nodded and pointed at his charge port door still open, which killed the mood fast. Why do some EV owners treat public charging like a car meet instead of a gas station?

Remembered one time at a Walmart charger this dude in a Mustang Mach-E popped his frunk and started pointing at the frunk "cooler" space like it was some kind of party trick. Honestly I was just trying to figure out why my charging cable was tangled and not in the mood for a trunk show. Ngl I get the excitement, EVs are fast and quiet and that's cool, but standing there watching a battery fill up is about as interesting as pumping gas. You don't see people at Shell bragging about their 0-60 while their tank fills up, you know?

lol yeah the frunk flex is real. I swear half the Mach-E owners I've met act like that little plastic tub is some kind of convertible top. The guy probably spent more time pointing at it than I've ever spent looking in my own frunk. But here's the thing, you never see Tesla owners popping their frunk to show off a "cooler" because they don't have one that actually seals. That Ford thing is literally just a shallow dent in the plastic. I got a buddy with a Lightning and he tried that on me once at a free charger and I was like "okay but can you fit a 12 pack in there without it sliding out" and he got real quiet. Meanwhile I'm just sitting there in my old Leaf watching the battery tick up 0.3% per minute and thinking about how my whole charging experience is just slightly less boring than watching paint dry. The whole "look at my EV party trick" thing is funny until you realize you're both just standing there for 20 minutes doing nothing anyway.
