Having someone watch you work all day and not say a word until after you've already messed it up is the worst feeling, and then eating the cost on top of it makes it even worse. Funny how the guys who've been doing it 30 years can spot a problem from across the room but wait until you've learned it the hard way. Sounds like your foreman knew exactly what was coming and just let it play out, which is honestly a pretty brutal way to teach someone. At least you walked away with a lesson you never forgot, even if the price tag was rough.
