The "$5 rotisserie chicken" at Costco is actually $4.99, which sounds like a nitpick but it matters when you're doing the math on cost per meal. More importantly though, that price only holds if you already have a membership, and the basic one runs $65 a year now. If you're factoring that in, your $12 for six meals quietly becomes $12 plus a couple bucks per meal depending on how often you shop there. Not saying it's a bad deal, the chicken is huge and the bones make great stock, but Sam's Club does the same bird for basically the same price. The real cheap eats crown probably goes to a whole chicken from a local butcher or a $6 tray of chicken thighs you roast yourself.

...and honestly the concrete thing is more of a 60s/70s battery case issue. Those old hard rubber cases got porous and would sweat acid if they sat long enough, especially with vibration cracks. Modern polypropylene cases with the sealed tops? Not the same problem. I've thrown dead batteries on my garage floor for years waiting for core pickup and never had one eat the concrete. That said, if you're storing a battery that's still got juice in it, just put a piece of plywood under it. Cheap insurance, and it saves you from scrubbing white powder marks off the floor if the vent caps weep. Your dad wasn't crazy, he just had older batteries than us.
