Wasted $60 on a cheap Level 1 charger off eBay

Picked up a no-name portable charger for my Leaf last month thinking I saved big. First week it worked fine but then it started cutting out after 30 minutes of charging. Turns out the internals were barely rated for the current and it was overheating. Had to fight the seller for a refund and now I'm out the shipping costs. Anyone else get burned by bargain bin EV chargers?

Don't buy charging gear off eBay man. Is saving a few bucks really worth burning your house down?

The whole "burn your house down" thing is no joke, robin. I learned that the hard way too. Bought a cheap Chinese charger on Amazon and it melted the plug after like two months. The seller kept saying "normal wear and tear." Now I just stick with name brand stuff even if it costs more. That $60 mistake could have turned into a much bigger repair bill if the fire had spread. You're not alone in getting burned by those bargain bin chargers.
