Grocery store day-old bread bins are a goldmine if you time it right
I used to skip those bins because everything felt rock hard, but last month I hit the one at my local Save Mart in Fresno around 7pm on a Tuesday. They restock at 6:30, and I grabbed a sourdough loaf for 99 cents that was still soft enough for sandwiches. The trick is to check the sell-by date on the bag, not just squeeze it, since some items are only a day old. I also found croissants for 50 cents each and froze them, they toast up perfect for breakfast. People keep grabbing the top stuff, but the fresh batch is always buried underneath. Anyone else have a specific time their store puts out the day-old stuff?

Yeah learn the restock time, mine drops at 8am and everything's gone by 9.
