The dollar taco night that flipped my opinion on food trucks
I used to think food trucks were overpriced hype until last Friday when a truck near the downtown library in Austin did $1 al pastor tacos from 5 to 7pm. I ate four of them with fresh salsa and grilled pineapple for less than my usual fast food combo, and they were honestly better than any sit-down spot I've hit. Anyone else find a random weekday special that totally changed their mind about a place?
Well hot dog, four tacos for a dollar each and you still came out ahead of a fast food combo? That almost makes me mad at every other place I have ever eaten at. A taco truck pulling a stunt like that is basically a magic trick, and the grilled pineapple is the part that seals the deal for me. You basically found a cheat code by the library and I am over here eating sad sandwiches like a chump.
