Found a cheap way to keep my apartment cool last summer...

My place on the third floor in Logan Square was hitting 88 degrees by 2pm every day last July. I tried blocking the sun with blackout curtains but it was still an oven in here. What actually worked was putting a cheap box fan in the window facing out at night... pulled all the hot air out and dropped it to 72 by morning. Anyone else try this trick or have a better hack for an old building with no AC?

Wait, 88 degrees INSIDE your apartment? That's like literally living in a sauna, I would've melted on day one.

Yeah 88 inside is basically free hot yoga without the calming music or the good vibes. I tried the box fan trick last year too and it worked ok until my neighbor complained the noise was keeping her cat awake at 3am. Now I just sit in my underwear with a spray bottle and a desk fan pointed directly at my face like some kind of sad, sweaty superhero. Honestly the real hack is just accepting you live in a brick oven and planning your whole day around the one hour after sunset when it's almost bearable.
