Bubble wrap vs. moving blankets for winter storage, picked wrong first
I parked my '72 Cutlass in a rental unit outside Toledo back in November and had to choose between wrapping it in bubble wrap or using moving blankets to protect the paint. I went with bubble wrap because it was cheaper, about $40 for two big rolls, but after 3 weeks I found moisture trapped under it against the quarter panels. Swapped everything out for those thick moving blankets from U-Haul, which breathe way better, and now the car sits dry even after the temp swings we had in January. Has anyone else dealt with condensation under plastic wrap, or do you use something like car covers with a soft lining instead?

Moving blankets were the right call for sure. That trapped moisture under bubble wrap is brutal on paint, especially with Ohio temp swings. One thing though, bubble wrap isn't really meant for long term anything. It's for shipping, not storage. Even the soft car covers with lining can hold sweat if the car isn't completely dry before you put them on. Let it air out a full day after a wash or after driving it. Also, those moisture absorber buckets from Home Depot help a lot if you got space in the unit.
