I cut my weekly trash down to one small bag by doing this one weird thing with my freezer
I read that the average American throws out about 5 pounds of food a week, and I knew most of mine was going bad in the crisper drawer. So I started freezing everything that was about to turn, even stuff I never thought to freeze, like half an onion, wilted spinach, and brown bananas. In 3 months I went from two big trash bags a week to one small one, and my grocery bill dropped by $40 a month. It also cut down on methane from the landfill, which is a huge climate problem that nobody talks about. Has anyone else tried freezing stuff they normally toss, and what surprised you most?
