Warning: the creek behind my apartment in Dayton looks like a different creek than it did in March
I walk my dog along the same 0.4 mile stretch of Wolf Creek every morning and in March the water was running clear enough that I could see the rocks on the bottom. Now it is that thick green-brown color and there is this film on the surface near the culvert by the Kroger parking lot. I called the city twice about it and the guy on the phone said it is just summer algae plus runoff from all the fertilizer people put on their lawns. I get that some of it is natural, but I have lived here 9 years and it has never turned this fast or stayed this bad through August. Has anyone dealt with a city that actually tests this stuff, or do I need to find a local group that does water sampling on their own?
