The $75 ghost kitchen menu printing was a total waste

I paid a local print shop in Austin $75 for 500 menu cards with QR codes, thinking they'd look more pro than my handwritten ones. Turns out the glossy coating smudges from condensation in the delivery bags, and riders have told me they can't scan the code after 20 minutes. I'm back to plain paper and a sharpie, it costs me $3 a week and reviews actually got better. Has anyone else overpaid for fancy packaging that just caused more problems than it solved?
