I thought flood coolant was overkill until it saved a tricky cut.

I always avoided flood systems because they seemed like extra cleanup. My last aluminum run had chips welding onto the tool every time. It was frustrating and I almost lost the part. I switched to flood coolant for a redo, and it kept everything clear. That small win totally changed my view on using it.

Yeah, the part about chips welding onto the tool is so real. I was the same way, thought it was just a messy hassle. Then I was cutting some deep slots in aluminum and the heat was just wrecking the finish. Switched the coolant on as a last ditch thing and it was like night and day. The cut stayed clean and the part came out perfect instead of getting scrapped.

But all that coolant mess just isn't worth it for small jobs.

Used to skip coolant for quick cuts too, figured the cleanup took longer than the job. Had a stainless part that kept galling up no matter how light I went. Finally hooked up the coolant just to see, and the difference was insane. The chips actually cleared, finish looked smooth, and the tool didn't sound angry anymore. Totally changed my mind on what counts as a "small job" now.
